Baby Swimwear

Hi. Just wondered what swimwear is preferable for a 3 month old? One of those 1 piece zip up suits, or a top and bottoms? It's initially for use in a pool but will also be used on holiday. Any advice much appreciated :)

We started swimming lessons when my first was a bit older about 6 months... I just used a full one piece swim suit ... I honestly dont think it makes a difference as long as it's quite warm otherwise you can get a mini wet suit

Thanks for your response. Just wanted to know what parents find most easy/convenient. Baby won't be having lessons, just a little splash around while we're on a mini-break. There's a small pool for little ones that is heated to a few degrees warmer.

When we go swimming I put my My 6 week old boy in just a Disposable swimming nappy. My one year old is in a swimming costume that has got a sealed swimming nappy built in but if we’re on holiday and wearing it day she’ll put a disposable swimming nappy on with it too.

This is what i’m Going on about!

Thanks for your reply and the links. Really handy. I just came across the costume with a nappy in it. Great idea. Thanks again x

We went for a one piece with a disposable swim nappy I was thinking the water would go up the top.. most of the smaller babies I see in the pool wear a one piece too. I can’t remember how old he was when we first took him but it’s irrelevant you take them when you want too! It’s all a good experience for them.

Thanks LHow81. That's the sort of response I was hoping for. And thanks for not judging and making me explain myself! X

A Happy Nappy keeps all the poo nasties in as the elastic is nice and tight and I loved the reusable inner rather than polluting the world with yet more nappies. thenappylady.co.uk/swim-nap...

The nappy lady.co.uk sells the two part splash about nappies. The are preferred at most pools and seim schools...it is mentioned. You can buy perhaps some on facebook matketplace or on the nappy lady buying and selling group. It is a closed one but anyone can join.

Good luck. Someone told me that the youngest baby at a swimschool was one day old!. It went with the dad.

I initially used a wrap with my wee one as it’s much easier to get on when they are little splashabout.com/baby-swimmi....

Then went onto an all in one zip suit as I found the two piece kept riding up all the time when handling them in the water.

Thanks for the reply Hayley. That's exactly why I asked - wanted other parents' experiences. I've never heard of the wrap so thanks x
