Just found out I'm pregnant today but have also started a brand new job. Help.

My main issue is whether I should say anything or not as I'm meant to do a Manual Handling course tomorrow. This pregnancy is through IVF so I'm especially nervous as I've never been pregnant before in nearly 4 years of trying and a failed former IVF.

I accepted an Activities Coordinator job about 6 weeks ago and they've finally started getting in touch with me regarding start dates etc. I'm in for two training days this week. One of which includes Manual Handling training and I'm scared I could hurt things. Any advice please!?

Hey,

I did a manual handling course when I was 19 weeks pregnant, I let the trainer know I was pregnant so he told me when there was things he didn’t feel I should be doing.

If you inform the trainer at the beginning of the course then they’ll be able to let you know things they don’t feel you should do. For me he didn’t let me use standaid or hoist (although I do use these in work sometimes).

Congratulations on your pregnancy 😀 xxx

Thanks - I think it's mostly nerves. I'm just in shock and don't have a clue about the next steps. I've not let myself believe it would actually work for a long while!

Totally get that. Mines is also an IVF pregnancy and it definitely takes a while to feel real! Xxx

Defiantly let them know your prority is your baby. It’s such early stages for you. Trust me you don’t want to risk anything. Plus you have a lot of rights once you tell them. Also because you havnt been there for a year your pay won’t be affected anyways. You remind me of myself when I first found out I was expecting I was also worried but with time you will realise your prority . You must read the companies policy regarding pregency and also read the Goverment policy will for sure make you feel so much better . Good luck xxx
