Feed every three hours. If he's sleepy and doesn't take the whole feed tickle/ play with his feet to wake him up. Try and get as much sleep as you can

Hi lovely, congratulations! Are you breastfeeding? Either feed on deman (whenever baby wants) or every 3 hours, if sleeping, wake him up. Nappy change after feeds.

Has he done his first poo yet?

Don’t have home too warm.

Look after yourself too, eat and drink lots of water and nap when possible.

Anything in particular you want to ask?

You’ll be fine don’t worry x

Thank you! Yeah i am breastfeeding and im going with the he can eat as much as he wants when hes hungry, i dont want to overfeed him or force feed him especially if he doesn’t want to, he hasnt had his first poo yet as hes only 8 hours old.. but he has had 2 long feeds and one short one! The house is at 18 degrees, hes wearing an under layer short sleeved oonzie thing with no legs then one full body one and has a blanket covering his bottom half and scratch mittens.. his chest isnt hot so hes not overheating to me although his skin is super red but iv been told thats normal? (Hes mixed race) xx

Yeah i did, should i leave him in his moses basket to sleep tonight? I mean sometimes he wakes up and is a little sad so ill cuddle him then pop him back in but i just wanted to know is there any sort of things i should be looking out for? X

Yes you can keep him in his Moses at the side of your bed. If he wakes, offer him your breast, you can’t over feed him, he will let you know if he doesn’t want it. At his age his stomach is the size of a marble so they need it often x

Children can be quite red for the first few days... seem to become paler after that... I think it's painful just the stress of child birth.

I remember the first few weeks with my first were v stressful bit def gets better. Look after yourself, feed them as they want to... I wouldn't worry about over feeding as very difficult with a breast fed baby to over feed them. If they cry it normally hunger/nappy/sleepy later on might also just be bored ... my 3 month old is a bit of diva wants to be social all the time!! You should still have midwife and health visitors involved so ask if you don't know!

You sound like you’re doing great!!

Did you feel ready to leave hospital? That’s super quick to be home!

Yeah don’t worry about him being red, it shows he has a healthy circulation!

You’re doing brilliantly!

The first poo should come within 24hrs and will be dark and probably about sticky and jelly like, that’s meconium and all normal.

Any other questions just ask x

I did want to leave simply because i was exhausted, my partner was exhausted, and we both felt better being in an environment where we felt “safe” and “homey” you know? so we brought him home.. hes adjusting well bless him (he’s sleeping and farting away) if i do get worries or if im unsure of something I’ll definitely ask, thank you x

P.s look how far you’ve come from being that 18 yr old girl frightened and upset when you found out about your pregnancy!!! You’re amazing, and you should be hugely proud of yourself xxx

Swaddling him helps baby to feel save while sleeping if he starts to feel unsettled, keep basket close to the bed easier to get to through the night.

Sounds like your doing great 👍🏻 sleep as much as possible sleep deprivation is a killer.

Most important thing I learnt was to let him fall off the boob naturally, wind him and then offer other side. I was taking mine off because I though he was done and then he wouldn’t settle. I just trust him to let me know when he’s done. The first few weeks breast feeding and crazy they are so little and feed so often and take ages. But they get so much quicker so quickly!

Congratulations as well. Enjoy it all. My little boy is 3 months now and it’s jyst flown by. X
