Bleeding at 4 weeks! Could it be the EC Pill??

Last month my husband and I had an Ooppps moment. We have 3 children and weren’t planning for a baby. So after the night our “birth control” method failed, I went to my doctor that very next morning! I took and Emergency Contraceptive Pill. I took a pregnancy test 2 weeks later as advised and I AM PREGNANT! We are all very happy surprised and excited about the new baby. Unfortunately, now that I am at 4 weeks I have been bleeding for 3 days on and off. Bright red blood and some dark brown blood. Cramping too. But no blood clots, well one very small blood clot during day 1 bleeding. I am so confused and worried. I never bleed with any of my other pregnancies. Can anyone give me some advice? I hope it is NOT an ectopic pregnancy!! Also concerned that the EC Pill could of effected my pregnancy?! I really wish I never took that pill. The doctors never told me it could cause complication.

Keeping my prayers positive

Thank you for your help

Aw I’m so sorry your going through this upheaval Hunni. I’ve not gone through this personally, I have had bleeding in one of my pregnancy though. Has the bleeding stopped? Can you get into gp tomorrow to get checked out or bloods done to see what your hcg levels are? Try to rest early tonight and I hope and pray everything will be okay xx

Hormonal contraception and ec shouldn't cause harm if taken whilst pregnant. So whatever the cause of the bleeding you shouldn't feel responsible for it... not your doing.

I bleed with my first during first trimester and it turned out fine... might be worth seeing ur gp to get referred to epau.

I am going to see the doctor tomorrow. I’m thankful for the advice. Glad to know it’s somewhat normal to have some bleeding. After 3 children I though I was an expert at this! I guess not lol. Thank you !
