5 weeks pregnant, worried due to previous MC's and loss of symptoms

Hi, I've just found out a couple of days ago that I'm pregnant (5wk 3d today). I had sore breasts and did a cb test which said 2-3 weeks.

I've had 2 previous MC's before having my son who's now 3 and this is my first pregnancy since then. my symptoms seem to have completely disappeared, all I've had today is a bit of mild cramping and I'm scared to death that I'm going to MC again.

I've spoken to my GP who has referred me for an early scan and I'm currently waiting for my appointment to come through (hopefully will arrive tomorrow). I can't relax and just keep thinking the worst constantly.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? 😕

Hi Hunni sorry to hear your going through this as it’s horrible playing mind games with yourself and body ! I had a miscarriage in August I was pregnant with twins and when I found out I was pregnant I was 5 weeks, I went for my first midwife appointment etc then I had my scan I was so excited but so scared that’s when I found out I was expecting twins but but also they were both sleeping I was 13 weeks but they stopped between 7/8 week... I’m now trying for another one and can’t wait but also so nervous now as I’ve also got a 3 year old ! I hope your appointment comes through really quick as I know you’re probably having anxiety moments. I wish you well and I’ll keep all crossed for you xx

Thanks hun, I'm so sorry to hear about your twins. That's exactly what happened with my first pregnancy, I found out at my first scan and it's just such a shock when you find out that there isn't a heartbeat because you're so excited and happy too. Definitely having anxiety moments but trying to keep calm and think rationally xx

It’s ok Hunni it obviously wasn’t my time , it still hurts as I was ready to be a mummy again and excited. If you have a hobby or like walking when you get all anxious then take time out. I’ve started to read a book to relax my mind and started making jo jo bows which helps with the whole mind games! I wish you and baby all the best xx

I'd consider waiting until 8 weeks for a scan if you can stand it- lots of the six week scans seem to end in being unable to see the baby because it's too early, causing lots of worry for the parents who then wait 2 weeks to rescan and it turns out alright. Lots of unnecessary anxiety- just anecdotally from the amount of posts like that I've seen on here and on mumsnet. There's nothing they can do to prevent miscarriage at this stage anyway, so an early scan does nothing to help the embryo. Besides, if you're anything like me, you'll have a brief respite from the worry which will then return after a while.

The first trimester sucks- lots of waiting and worrying! Symptoms do come and go, mine stopped for several weeks, it's normal. I tried to keep busy and only allow myself to think about the pregnancy for an hour a day- a tip from someone on mumsnet. Good luck with everything.

Hi I just miscarried weeks ago I was 12 weeks baby stopped growing around 6/7 weeks 😢 and I’m trying again straight away as I’m 37 but I’m scared of it happening again I have 2 kids already 12 & 10. It’s hard not to worry. Good luck with your pregnancy xx

Hi Hun, so sorry to hear about your MC, its such an awful experience to go through, my first one was a missed one and I was just distraught when I found out at the scan. Good luck with trying again, I really hope things go well for you sweetie. I've not had an appointment through for an early scan yet so I'm waiting and trying not to worry too much at the minute 😕 xx

I know the feeling hun. We lost our first baby in December 2016 and our second baby in April this year. I'm now 25+2 with our rainbow boy and although I've not stopped worrying, I've relaxed a bit more since I've started to feel him move.

I was given this advice by my fiancé's cousin who has also lost 2 babies (she just had a beautiful girl in Sept). She said I should ry not to worry because if baby is okay then it's gonna stress the baby. If the worst happens then there is nothing I can do to control it.

With this pregnancy, I started taking Vitamin B3 as there was a study showing that it can help prevent miscarriages and birth defects.

I didn't get sore breasts until about 10 weeks. Don't forget each pregnancy is different. My friend didn't know she was pregnant until she was 21 weeks because she had no symptoms. She only found out because she went for a routine kidney scan!

Wishing you all the best hun xx
