So I've had a similar problem I was on depo injection up until March when I was advice to come off it after I had been on it for a year I know it can take a very long time to go back to normal but after 6 months of trying to conceive I got a positive on a digital test but then the doctor conformed I was not pregnant I came on my period shortly after then the next month which was September I was a week later so naturally I convinced myself I was pregnant but them came in my period but I had no period in October took a bunch of tests which one of them was a lloyds test which had a faint positive even my partner noticed so I was over the moon but after a few tests more and just getting dead straight negatives I went to the doctor and even she said it was weird that I had two normal periods meaning my body was going back to normal but now had missed a full period and even more disappointing is I'm late again this month being November and am taking a test every day for past two weeks and nothing bfn all the way I even took opk all month and they were all negative but with really faint positives which I know you have to class as negatives so after apparently not ovulating all month and having a false positive and two months later and 20+ pregnancy tests I'm exhausted emotional stressed and at the point of giving up I wish I had never gone on depo injection but has anyone else been on depo and had a similar problem? X

I’m so sorry to hear of your struggles please don’t give up trying just give yourself a little more time. I was on the depo injection for 7 years and when I came off I was advised by gp it can take 6 months - 2 years for your body to get back to a regular cycle. I found for the first 6 months my periods were all over the place. I would miss one and then get 2 in the next month. It may be worth having a chat with your gp. Do keep trying and try not to stress or worry (easier said than done) good luck hope you don’t have to wait much longer xx

Stress does not help you conceive. Take folic acid, ask your GP for a pre pregnancy blood test (if iron or certain minerals are low, it's harder to conceive). Most couples conceive within a year or trying if you are having regular sex. It might be your man (low sperm count, etc) and maybe nothing to do with your hormones/depo.

I came off the pill after I had been on it for a very long time (more than 15 years due to having irregular periods as a teenager). Two months after coming off the pill we started trying. It took another 6 months for us to conceive. We unfortunately lost that baby but managed to conceive again a few months later and I’m currently nearly 15 weeks. It takes some time for your body to adjust after all the hormones from contraception. I would recommend tracking your cycle using an app like Ovia which also allows you to record when you get slight lines on ovulation tests (not just the positives), spotting, changes in your mood, cervical mucus and other physical changes. I found it really useful to understand my cycle after my miscarriage and it gives a prediction of your fertile days which means you can test for ovulation more than once a day on the right days. The More Info you put in, the more accurate it can be. I should point out that I didn’t get any positive ovulation tests the month I conceived with this pregnancy, just very faint lines. So it is possible that you are actually ovulating, you may just have a short window. If you’re worried then go back to your doctor with as much info on your cycles as possible. Hope that helps. Xx
