Restless leg syndrome.

Hi I wrote on here about a week ago about leg pains since I’ve found out it’s called restless leg syndrome. Has anyone else had this and if so what have you done to try as ease it. It is only at night time I get this. It’s driving me crazy. I read you can take iron tablets but at my initial app the woman I saw took my bloods and said she would get back to me if I needed to take iron tablets so does that mean I shouldn’t take them unless I’m told to do so by my MW? Xx

Why don't you call them and ask unless your next appointment is soon. I wouldn't take iron unless I was told to... It can cause constipation so not something I would be keen on ... But it depends how many your legs are, if so might be worth trying although I'd speak to midwife to find out results first.

The only things mentioned that might help are exercise during the day ... So mAybe might be worth trying that to see if it helps

I know. I don’t just want to start taking them in case my iron levels are fine. I’m just waiting for my midwife to call back. So hopefully she can suggest something xxx

I'm doing prenatal yoga and they have some exercises to do at night before bed for restless leg. Think it's sitting with legs stretched out and then just paddling feet up and down and just stretching out the toes. Sounds simple but hopefully it works

I had this all through my pregnancy too! I found taking a magnesium orotate tablet in the evening helped, and also having weight over my feet/legs like a heavy blanket. Try and keep your feet up as much as you can during the day easier said than done I know!). Rest assured it does go away once baby is born though just one of those annoying preg symptoms to deal with!x

I've been getting it in the evenings too. I end up having to do some stretches to ease it. It always kicks in after dinner when we sit down to watch some TV. I'm not keen on taking iron tablets either so will just keep on stretching it out or I get up and make a cuppa.

I had this before getting pregnant, it’s something that runs in our family unfortunately and now I am pregnant it seems worse. Sounds strange but try drinking tonic water. The quinine in it is supposedly the thing that helps.

Didn't have pains but I felt constant urge remove them. Baby four months and experienced again last night. I used to take a paracetamol when really bad and every night used deep heat and hot water bottle.

I'm having restless legs syndrome too..and it's horrible keeping me awake at night. I put lots of pillows to support my legs and also a hot water bottle seems to help a bit too. Good luck x

Yeah it’s literally the minute I start to drift off to sleep it’s beguns and keeps me awake. I’m gonna try the pillows and hot water bottle idea xx

I used to have it and low haemoglobin could be the cause.

Other than that try this..as it worked with me sometimes... take a glass of water ..should be 3/4 and add milk (liquid) in it ...should be 1/4 ... try drinking before going to bed as restless legs syndrome is worst at night.

Running feets also help at times
