Pregnant but no GP

I just found out that I'm pregnant but I have no GP at the moment due to moving what should I do?? Also I can't get into a GP until I have photo id which I don't have yet and won't for a month or so.

The PDF above says they can't refuse you due to a lack of ID.

Get it printed off and show it to them. Worst case scenario, and I know it's a huge inconvenience, could you go back to your old pre-move GP and explain the situation? You should be registered there still.

Personally though, I'd say they should register you and would complain bitterly if they refuse for any other reason than being full up.

Presume you don’t have a passport or driving license. Have you looked into getting an ID card?

How many weeks pregnant are you? The first midwife appointment is around 10 weeks so if your early on you have time to sort the ID out.

You should be taking a pregnancy vitamin daily like pregnacare and avoiding certain foods. Nhs choices website has all the info on what foods to avoid.

To be honest it shouldn't make a big difference. First start vitamins and have a read of NHS choices. Second go to a GP surgery and explain your issue. Also ask if you can book directly with midwives (that's what I did with both my pregnancies and never saw the GP). In the mean time you can apply as a temp resident if you need to b seen by GP or you can use out of hours (111) service

Go to a local drop in. A lot of them can register you for 3 months with limited ID and can still refer you for other appts etc x

Congratulations with your pregnancy

Call your local sure start children's centre. They can put you in touch with a midwife. You don't need to see your gp as long as you don't have any medical problems or complications in previous pregnancies.

I'm 17 so this would be my first and my mother and sister had complications in there pregnancies

That would be family history. Anyway first contact will be with a midwife, she will ask you loads of questions and decide if you are low risk or high risk. You can explain her your situation (no gp). How many weeks are you right now? Midwife won't see you until you are at least 8weeks so you can try to register with gp. It usually doesn't take too long.

Contact the local midwifes and ask, worst case you'd need to go private I suppose. If you are early on maybe a month will be fine?
