Im 22, pregnant with my second.

Whilst pregnant with my first i gained a hernia about an inch above my bellybutton. All doctors say is it will go away on its own. The more i read up about it, the more nervous im getting, as everything says it can only be corrected with surgery.. Any else had the same?

I have one this time around (35 week now). They can be surgically corrected but not whilst you are pregnant. Hernias are common and especially around the belly button are normally more of a nuisance than a danger, especially if small.

They are of concern if they become hard, red hot or if you start vomiting and not opening bowels as it means there might be bowel stuck inside. Although v unlikely with a small hernia to have any bowel in it. If you press it and it's nice and soft and goes down when you press it (even if it comes back straight away after you let it go) then it's not of concern

Hi , I had a hernia removed via surgery last year ! I have 3 daughters but I think it must of been my daughter that is now nearly 15 years old as I had it before I went on to have my second daughter who is 12 years old but it just got worse 8 years ago I went on and had my other daughter who has now turned 3 ! But had it removed due to it sticking out next to my belly button and it was painful to push it back in for it to pop back out it did stop me from doing sit ups etc and I hated looking at it! If it hurts you or bothers you have surgery but if you can deal with it for now just see how you go!

Hope all is ok x
