Hi,

My baby was born two weeks late but I had the same problem he was so tired because he was so hungry he just kept falling asleep. Mine was because my baby had a tongue tie so he couldn't suck properly. I tried hand expressing (you can find videos on you tube on how to do this) and feeding him with a syringe at the side of his mouth whilst making him suck on my finger so he was getting enough milk and getting used to sucking.. if you are having trouble with them amount of milk your getting use a hot water bottle or bean bag that you can put in the microwave and place on the top of your boob by your armpit. This really helped me. Your doing really well keep it up it may just take him a bit of time to get the hang of it. Also speak to your midwife or the birthing centre where he was born they should be able to give you advice or put you in touch with a breastfeeding expert.

Good luck hope this helps.

Have you seen a breast feeding advisor? 23 days is a long time to not have milk. Are you expressing after feeds? That will help start your milk. Is baby gaining weight? Are you supplementing with something? I would def suggest discussing with your health visitor if baby is out of hospital

Actually I just got my baby home 3 days ago,I'm giving him Similac formula milk which hospital has given him there ,I can't keep him hungry .

And now i become so tired with baby routine so I stopped pumping too.

You're right not too keep baby hungry, I'd do the same! If baby is not feeding enough you might have to express as well if you want to breastfeed. Could it be baby is used to bottle now, and not too bothered about breast? It's harder to suck from a breast than a bottle. Think about your options, and try expressing if you want to breastfeed but don't don't be too hard on yourself, sometimes it doesn't work out.

I feel for you, I also experienced problems breast feeding, my lol has a shallow latch. I second the advice of other posters and suggest speaking to your midwives or health visitors. You could try attending a breast feeding brasserie or group in your area if you have one. These are usually found through your local children's centre or La Leche League. There are also a couple of national helplines you can contact 0300 100 0212 or the la Leche league helpline 0345 120 2918. Hope you manage to get things resolved please don't be too hard in yourself your doing great x
