14 weeks how much weight should I have gained?

Just wondering how much weight I should have gained by now? Since becoming pregnant I have put on 3lbs. Just wondering if this is normal?

Hi CP!

I think that's great- by the book :) I was very nauseous and hated food so I lost few kg in that process and started to put on on week 16. (Felt terribly guilty by not eating as I knew baby needed all nutrients and vitamins, but I could not force it either as that made me throw up)

Good luck!x

Everybody is different, I would say 3lbs is a healthy amount, I like chriswest1983 lost in first trimester, started of a big 14.8 stone and lost just over a stone . Weighed myself at week 32 ish and had only just got back to what I was at the start, haven't weighed since (37 weeks),I would hope i am not over 15, but it all comes off after lol. Nhs website says most women will put on between 22-26lbs. Baby centre.co.uk says if ur bmi is under 18.5 (underweight) you should gain 28-40lbs, if bmi is 18.5-24.9 (normal weight) you should gain 25-35lb this is more than nhs says, if ur bmi is 25-29.9 (overweight) you should gain 15-25lbs, and if ur bmi is over 30 (obese) 11-20lbs. My bmi was 34 at beginning, and to date I have gained about 20lbs, but none of the midwifes I have seen have wanted to weigh me or have mentioned my weight. Hope this helps a little! Xx

I was lucky, I didn't have morning sickness. Since finding out I am pregnant I haven't been able to do my 12 mile daily cycle to/from work as it's a bit dangerous in parts so I was concerned I might pile on the pounds. Thank you for putting my mind at ease.

I was cycling lots as well but since I found out that I am pregnant, I got so worried to cycle that bit by bit I stoped (on week 20) also growing bump made this enjoyable exercise uncomfortable.

Yeah - lucky you that you did not suffer much! Enjoy the rest of this pregnancy!x

Don't worry about piling on the pounds. If you were fit and strong before pregnancy and continue to eat healthy, the fat gain should be minimal and you should lose it quickly after having your baby. I did intense interval training 4 times weekly and now just manage walking! I'm 8 weeks and so tired but not concerned about weight gain. Still a size 6!

When I was pregnant with my son i put on more than recommended by the NHS but I didn't eat more and was even more conscious of being healthy so it made me feel bad. My metabolism really slowed down! This time I am 18 weeks and have hardly put on anything but I had bad morning sickness. I also just had a sickness bug which has taken me back down to my original weight! My point is, I think every pregnancy is different and every person is too!

i had no sickness and no weight gain till 30 weeks, baby came out put on 4 pounds ish during pregnancy, but i do have an overactive thyrid
