Good morning darling!

Congratulations to you about this pregnancy!!! ❤️

I am not sure how it works for women who have high working thyroid but regarding pregnant women with low thyroid levels are at risk of miscarriage if they don't take they medications (friend of mine had 2 misscarages when under preforming thyroid was not detected, but once it was discovered then she had 2 great pregnancies whislt she was on tablets)

If you are not sure - always call your midwife and ask one more time just to feel calm that you're doing the right thing for you and for the baby 👶 ! Good luck with the pregnancy!x

If by tablet you mean levothyroxine you need to continue taking that. Once you're pregnant (if you're not already) you should see your gp as your dose normally needs to be increased in pregnancy

Yes it's important not to stop it if it's for an under active thyroid. In fact a lot of ladies require an increase in meds by 1/3 when pregnancy is confirmed as the baby takes a lot of t4 from the mum especially in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Levels need careful monitoring and often need more increases as you go into another term. There is a thyroid forum on here called thyroid uk which is good. I am hypothyroid myself. I had 7 miscarriages due to an undiagnosed under active thyroid so it does cause miscarriage if your levels are too low. This is the first I have carried past 12 weeks in years since being on thyroid meds. I am also self medicated as the NHS left me to rot and refused a retest so I almost died. Had to get it all done privately and I now take natural dessicated thyroid meds. My levels were literally a trace in my system, was well below any medical range and I was going in and out of consciousness daily. x

Congratulation! You will continue taking your meds. You will have to have more frequant blood test to keep an eye on your levels (can request to get them done at the same time as any other blood test). Eat really well too. Be aware of iron levels as reacts with thyroid but do take multivitamins. And give 30 mins before eating when taking meds! Your dr may consider you a high risk your midwife will help you with this as long as you know the signs of bad thyroid care (if hyper the the shakes and hyperness or hypo the tired sloggy and low feelings) either way rest well. Eat well and Enjoy the beauty of being pregnant!
