I'm new here!

It's my first ever pregnancy and I'm really unsure on what to expect?

Any advice?

Hiya,

I'm on a my first pregnancy and like you, have been bricking it!! I'm very excited to be pregnant, but also extremely worried in case anything goes wrong. I'm 28 weeks today and have midwife appointment on Friday to measure me.

The best advice I can give, is to relax - trust me that is a lot easier said than done!! I find that I'm trying to do everything that I've always done and then become frustrated when I can't do it.

Join a couple of discussion groups which mean you can talk open honestly and get advice. Sometimes it's good to just offload -family, friends and colleagues are supportive, but you're 'just pregnant not ill' - not helpful, but that's a comment I've had a few times off people.

Comfy maternity clothes are essential. As is time for yourself - I have a weekly reflexology session and have also joined a aqua-natal group (Convenient that they use my works swimming pool!)

but enjoy the pregnancy -when you feel those kicks and movements, its so magical.

Try not to stress i was 18 when i had my first and hes now seven and ive just had my second. ust remember theres no manual to be a mum or dad. My best friends kept telling me off this time for saying im only pregnant as ive had a rough time of it this time but it was all worth it in the end.

Ignore people who say your only pregnant its not an easy task and remember that even for those of us on more than one child we are still learning, it doesnt matter if your 18 or 30 on your first or fourth theres always something you wont know how to do right off the bat, find some support groups work out which family members will offer advice when asked but not force 'advice' down our throat, and have a good complain once a week, it helps de-stress lol

Thank you for all the advice!!

My partner and family do support me. But my Mam thinks she knows everything as she's had 3!! Every pregnancy is different.

All in all I am very very excited x

Just stick to your guns my dear we all have that one family member who thinks they know best. I find sometimes its easier to nod and listen and then do things the way you ant but just make sure you are strict in enforcing your ways and rules once baby is born or people might undermine you..

Good luck xx
