Meeting midwife

Hello everyone,

This is my first time posting here but I would like a little bit of advice and am hoping someone will help :)

I am 8 weeks pregnant with my first and have my first meeting with the midwife who will discuss antinatle care with me. I've read in many places that I should go with a list of questions to ask but I just can't think of many. I feel like I should have lots and that I'm missing something out. Could I ask anyone to give me a little heads up on what I should think of or what you have found important to ask?

Thank you, sorry if I sound daft!

I was the same as you to be honest! I did bring in a small list but for the life of me I can't remember what I asked, I googled common questions for midwife on first appointment and it came up with loads of ideas and after reading through some you do kind of realise there are things you might want to know, so I just wrote which ones I cared about and brought them with me. The midwife will probably go through everything with you though to be fair. Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy 😊

your midwife will go through everything in your handheld notes (which you'll get at the appointment) so she'll probably answer everything anyway. The mat B1 form won't be given to you till after your 20 week scan (usually at 25 week check) make sure you get your prescription exemption form though and you'll get weighed and measured as well as having loads of bloods ordered. She'll also give you a mobile number so you can contact her if you think of any questions (or write them down for next appointment at 16 weeks)

If you go on NHS Choices website there is a list of what should be covered at each appointment. It is worth having that with you.

Good luckx

Thank you everyone for your responses :) I couldn't go last Tuesday as I got a stomach bug which really worried me about the safety of the baby. But all is getting better and the appointment is re-booked :)
