Cradle cap looks like dry skin on the scalp, very flaky. I used to use olive oil on my daughters head. Used to dab it on with cotton wool. It's not the most pleasant looking but they do grow out of it.

Hi, it'll look just like bad dandruff. Essentially you don't need to do anything unless the baby scratches it and there's a risk of infection or bleeding. We used coconut oil for a while but then discovered Dentinox Cradle Cap shampoo (there are other brands varying in price and ingredients) and it cleared up immediately. We used it right until he was a year old. Then it went away.

I used oilatum junior shampoo on my twins as they both had cradle cap. Worked a treat!

Hi, I agree with the other ladies but if you find olive/coconut oil and cradle cap shampoo don't work quite quickly then go to the Dr for emollient cream, my poor girl scratched her head to pieces for weeks as Dr said it was cradle cap but she actually has eczema x

I second Kristy..for my LO I used the emolient on his head with sunflower oil and dentinox shampoo every other day. Does your LO scratch head/face

No she's not itching or sore or anything but it seems to be spreading onto her forehead. she's not bothered so maybe I shouldn't be!

Since it's spreading, you could aask for an emollient prescription for her face. Or you could get at the pharmacy (they are a bit pricey) Or go the oilatum route....they're on offer in boots at the moment.

I'd say it's better to catch it now before she starts crying and scratching plus, it takes longer to clear.
