I'm now 8 weeks pregnant, and over the moon. Is there anything in particular I should be doing already, I'm already taking floic acid

Hi Melissa,

There's a lot that you could be doing but the one thing that you should insist on doing above all else is begin to breath deep (if you haven't started doing so already).

Have a moment each day of 15-30mins where you just either sit on the floor legs crossed or on a yoga ball with legs wide open and just breath. When you breath, you must do so deeply and slowly, in through your nose and out through your mouth. You must try to relax your entire body and calm your mind. You can listen to a hypno birthing recording too while you do this as they make it more enjoyable, and you also benefit from the encouraging words being told to you.

You should also practice this same breathing technique through every contraction from now until birth. As your contractions get stronger, you will feel them comming on real strong (probably in later stages); just stop whatever you're doing and just practice the same breathing technique and continue doing so until you either feel really calm and relaxed or until the contraction goes away (it is best to breath through the entire contraction until it goes away).

While in labour, continue the same breathing technique, and add moving your hips and waist in gentle side to side or circular motions; as though you were trying to seduce somebody (you can actually start practicing this from now, it will make it easier for you to do during labour).

Women who have used these techniques swear they've made labour easy (or easier) and I hope they do the same for you.

Hello

Congratulations!

I was told to take folic acid with Vit D so might be worth adding that if its not in the supplement you have.

Take care x

Have you booked in with your midwife? I had downloaded the what to expect app which is nice to see baby's weekly development and has several answers to pregnancy questions(is this normal, what to eat etc).

Congrats and enjoy it, take it easy and enjoy ur sleep (it won't last! 😛)

Hi Melissa, I am 7 week pregnant and today I saw my baby on the scan for a first time, it was quite emotional and saw the baby's hear beating too amazing. I would suggest to start taking Vit D as well, also if you have any nausea or sickness I was recommended to take Vit B12 and B6. I also am taking magnesium if I have any bleeding or stomach crumbs. I have been spotting from the beginning of my pregnancy, it has been little worry for me but I trust you are ok? Keep going as it is.
