Hey everyone, I was just curious and also wondering is it a myth or is it true when some people say sex during pregnancy helps when it comes to labor and pushing.

I'm not sure what you mean by help with labour and pushing... If you mean make if easier I would say no. It can help start off labour when having sex close to term as semen is a type of prostaglandin ( prostaglandins are used for induction of labour) but the evidence is iffy. People swear by curries and all sort of things but it's all anecdotal evidence. I suppose keeping your pelvic floor muscles "active" help with pushing but there's a several other factors involved.

The midwife told us and others it can help start labour in and around due date.

Orgasm releases oxytocin which is one of the main triggers for the start and progression of labour. It's also the thinking behind nipple stimulation helping, as oxytocin is released whilst breastfeeding. Prostaglandins can help to ripen the cervix.

Pushing... You don't want to be having sex whilst pushing... I guess that isn't what you mean. Who knows people claim raspberry leaf tea tones the uterus and makes pushing easier, but I don't know what mechanism they think it uses to achieve that.
