Looking for some help.

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice for my partner. She has recently given birth via emergency section and her whole labour has been an absolute nightmare. She is actually quite traumatised by it and I am just wondering if there are people she could talk to, just to clear her mind and get some advice.

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear about your partner's trauma. I also had a very traumatic emergency c-section nearly 2 years ago and it still brings me to tears when I think about it. Has your partner contacted her midwife? You can also get a debrief at the hospital with the midwife supervisor, which is really helpful as you can go through exactly what happend and why. The health visitor can also be useful to talk to. It's so hard. I had to go for professional counselling in the end and I'm doing much better (still traumatised but I'm coming to terms with it). How is your baby doing? Feel free to send me a personal message if you want to talk xxx

You're health visitor will be a good person to speak to. They will have professionals who they can get to contact you!

My first was a traumatic labour followedby emergency ssection. What your partner is feeling is the same way I felt. You expect a perfect birth but is so hard when it doesn't go that way. She should speak to her midwife they really are a great help. If you or her need to talk I'm here. Take care, and you will both get through this x

I'm sorry to hear that - my first labour was also very traumatising but it helped me to request my notes and read through them and then you can also request to talk about the birth with someone at the hospital, which might really help! And then there is the HV team and time, although it might sound stupid now, helps as well. All the best!

So sorry and it will pass. I had a breech delivery, having signed for an emergency c-section. Comfort and kindness, and talking with friends and midwife & health visitor should help. It's all a bit like flying to a strange, far-away country, having a baby - it's like nothing you've ever done before and your body and mind take time to recover. Good luck to you 3.

Hope your wife is feeling better. I didn't have a section, but the labour was traumatic for me and baby (and my boyfriend!) the midwife and health visitor will be a great support, and she's got you, who is obviously very supportive, which is brilliant. All I would say is look after yourself too, speak to someone before you get down, don't let it build up, but don't hide it if you do feel off either. They're a good bunch on here, have saved me many a time. Keep us posted. Big hugs to you all. Xxx
