Hi

I am 10 weeks pregnant and can't stop being sick. I have now been off work for 4 days as I can't keep food or water down. When would you suggest contacting midwife? Please tell me it improves!

I would say if you can keep anything down at all and its the fourth day possibly just get in touch with the MW just to get some advice as they are there to help with advice! Really hope it stops for you soon! And congratulations on your pregnancy xx

Congratulations! I would speak with MW if you cannot even keep water down as this could lead to dehydration which isn't ideal!

I had severe sickness between weeks 7 and 24 with a couple of days grace here or there during that time but then one day it suddenly stopped. I found that ginger biscuits (i hate them!) did actually help but the best thing for me was lots of rest.

I hope that it gets better for you but please speak with MW as that is what she is there for :)

not a good idea to let yourself get dehydrated - there are anti-sickness tablets that GP can prescribe for sickness as severe as yours. Safe for baby. I took them when only 3-4 weeks pregnant due to contracting winter vomiting bug - couldn't keep any fluids down and so they decided the tablets were necessary. Don't forget that your sickness might not be a pregnancy symptom - could be a virus? Therefore once it passes you might not suffer for the rest of your pregnancy. fingers crossed that's true :) Hope you feel better soon xxx

I'd definitely speak to someone. I wasn't that sick luckily but did have a day where I think I caught a bug and couldn't keep anything down. They ended up taking me into hospital overnight to put me on a drip as I was so dehydrated. If it's been 4 days for you I'm sure you're worse than I was. They also gave me an early pregnancy scan to check for twins! Hope you feel better soon x
