I've personally found the regular use of vaseline during every nappy change the most effect to treat and even dismiss nappy rash as the texture of vaseline can act as barrier for the moisture around the skin which is stopping the skin from healing as fast as it could.

Vaseline can also help to keep your LO's skin ( around the affected area) moisturised & possibly less irritable which is most likely causing your son to cry.

Just smear a generous amount of vaseline where you can see the rashes & with regular nappy changes you'll definetely see a difference in a few days.

Metanium cream is really good for getting rid of nappy rash. I find Vaseline good to prevent nappy rash, but that it makes the rash itself gooey rather than letting it air dry out. I have been leaving my little one with his nappy off, lying down for as long as he will tolerate it on towels and playing with him to keep him happy, then putting the cream on when he insists on having a nappy so we can do other things. You cab get metanium in supermarket baby aisles and in pharmacies.

Hope it gets better soon.

Is he teething? That can make it worse.

There's a couple of options you could try:

1) Metanium. It's a yellow cream and I've heard works wonders. The white version is good for prevention, too.

2) Brew some camomile tea, leave to cool and remove the bag. Use the camomile water with cotton wool. It's a soothing, natural remedy.

Make sure he has some nappy free time, as much as possible!

I agree with all of the above. Make sure the babies bottom is definatly dry before applying the creams so moisture is not traped between skin and cream. Also try using different types of wipes and nappies as rash could improve.

Metanium is what you want, must be the yellow cream not the white one. It's in a yellow box and tube, asda sell it, it's really good, clears it up straight away x
