Morning Sickness

Hi,

I was wondering when people started with morning sickness. I'm now 8 weeks and still only get a little when I'm hungry and a little nausea as other times in the day. I was expecting to be really sick as that's what you hear about and my mum suffered with it badly when she was pregnant. Any information?

Hi Julie just wanted to say that I have never experienced any sickness and I'm now on my 5th pregnancy (guess I was one of the lucky ones). So not all pregnant women have morning sickness and no need to worry, you must be one of the lucky ones too. Enjoy your pregnancy .x. Congratulations .x.

Thank you. That's really reassuring. X

Hi Julie,

Prior to becoming pregnant with my 1st child in 2008 I thought the alleged " morning sickness" was only it's worst at first thing in the morning of waking up & then would gradually pass as pregnancy goes on but as I've had a Lil girl last year I realised that the sickness period can be quite mild & not as bad as I experienced very bad sickness with my 1st child who is a boy.

Due to this I think your symptoms of nausea & sickness can depend on the sex of the unborn child.

You may well be one of the lucky ones & not get any sickness at all but from what I've also experienced with both my kids you can sort of sail through the pregnancy to then get really bad sickness symptoms right at the end. - SORRY! :)

Hi Julie, I have had three pregnancies and they've all been different. With my first (a girl) I threw up regularly every morning for the first trimester and felt ok for the rest of the day.

With my second (girl) I was sick slightly less often but it happened pretty much through my whole pregnancy.

With my third (a boy!) I was only sick once, but had nausea on and off throughout the day, particularly during the first & second trimester.

I'm not sure if the gender makes a difference or not, or if the lack of sickness last time round was because of other factors; but basically it is pretty unpredictable (as are most pregnancy related things!).

Hi Julie, I have been the same - a little nausea now and again, largely due to being hungry but that has been it. I've also had mildly sore boobs and occasional tiredness. I was worried the lack of symptoms meant a possible failed pregnancy as my mum and my grandmother suffered terribly with their pregnancies but we had our first scan yesterday at 12 + 4 and everything is perfect - we have a very wriggly little baby developing as normal. I guess we are just the lucky ones so enjoy it! X

If the am I pregnant posts are to be believed you should have a huge list if symptoms 5mins after sex, however it's not like that. All women are different and I puked my guts up from 6weeks literally until he popped out. The literature said I should stop being sick at 12 weeks. Go with the flow. And if you get minimal symptoms and feel good....rejoice! I never bloomed and feel robbed! For any nausea as silly as it sounds, eat. Carbs are the best at settling the stomach.

Hello, and congratulations!

Not everyone gets the dreaded morning sickness. I was like you, I wasn't physically sick but felt nauseous which was down to hunger a lot of the time. I've found that it's returned a little in the third trimester, but still not too bad. X
