Is it safe to take antibiotics while pregnant?

I've been having headaches for the last week and my GP thinks I've got sinusitis. He's prescribed antibiotics, my mum doesn't think I should be taking antibiotics while pregnant.

Does anyone have any experience?

Hi its perfectly fine and safe to take prescribed medication giving by your GP as they would not prescribe you it if they thought it would cause harm or wasn't needed. I had to take antibiotics in Feb last year whilst I was pregnant with my son as I had sinusitis quite badly. hope this helps x

It definitely sounds a little bit odd for your G.p to prescribe antibiotics when within knowledge that your pregnant, - have you had a ante-natal appointment with your community midwife recently ?

If so was their any concerns about your blood pressure or BMI status ?

My blood pressure is all good and the GP checked it.

I've got a high BMI of 29 so I've been told not to put more than 5kg during the pregnancy. I had already put 4 on when I was told so I'm being very careful and eating healthier than ever

Yes its fine I have had to have antibiotics a few times in different pregnancies x

Thank you all! I was ok until my mum told me I shouldn't take them while pregnant.

Hopefully they'll sort me out
