Can anyone recommend anything I'm allowed to take please? I've been having honey and lemon tea which soothes it for a while but this coughing is getting on my nerves now and the little baby inside me must be wondering what the heck is going on!

Awwrh! During pregnancy your immune system in general can take a bit of a beating, but as you already know there's not a lot you can take if you become sick.

During the last few months of my pregnancy I had a terrible cough & my CMW advised me to take something called glycerol as its a syrup which is usually given to children under the age of maybe 6 yrs old to help shift some of the mucus.

Oh brilliant! I'll try that. Also just thought to try breathing in steam to try and loosen it. Thanks very much:)

I've just recovered from a cough - eventually I went to Boots and bought a glycerin linctus (they do blackcurrant or honey and lemon depending on the type of cough/cold). It's like kids medicine (very sweet) but did the trick after a few days. Also it clearly says on the back of the bottle that it is suitable for pregnancy (in bold letters so they must really mean it!!!!)

Hope you feel better and drink lots of water!

Thank you so much ladies! Xx

I went to the doctors with a cough as it was annoying my oh at night and he decided it was silent reflux and prescribed Gaviscon, I was sceptical but after looking up symptoms online decided he was right and the Gaviscon has definitely helped. Worth considering.

Hi I'm just getting over my second one my gp told me it was best not to take anything other than natural remedies such as a jar of honey and fresh lemons with hot water. I also put vicks vapour rub on my chest and back at nights and took a spoonfull of honey before bed it seemed to make me cough at first then would settle the coughing at night. Hope it helps.
