Hi ladies, hope you, bumps & babies are all well. I was wondering where do you put your lo's for a sleep during the day if you are at home?

Do you put them where they would normally sleep at night or do you maybe use a travel cot/cot in their own room so that they get used to there as well? Thanks in advance xx

My LO is 3 weeks today and he doesn't find the mattress in his Moses basket comfy or the one in his basinette. We bought a sheepskin which we now put on the mattress to help him sleep. Sometimes it works but if he's in a light sleep, he prefers sleeping on a round pouf which we have in our lounge. It is filled with beans but there is no danger of suffocation as it is heavily filled and he can't sink in far. He's still too small for the baby carrier but I hope he will like that too.

When my baby was diddy, he would either sleep on me or in his pram in the living room in the day. He is now 21 weeks and he can sleep anywhere haha. He sleeps on me sometimes...mainly when overtired and won't settle. He sometimes goes to sleep on my bed or falls asleep in his bouncy chair. I can sometimes lay him in his cot for a nap but he doesn't like it as he associates it with night sleep only x

Hey, in the early days and even still now 20 weeks on he will nap at the breast. If he wasn't there I would move his Moses into living room to sleep. I also had a sling which I would wear if he wouldn't settle and he would go off there. He will sleep in his swing but needs convincing which is an all mighty task. Nods off readily in car seat and I try to encourage one of his naps a day in the cotbed when at home which is a mix of laying him down awake and asleep which will depend on if over tired grumps to get him used to it.

They are all different and you will find what works for you; all trial and error :-) xx

Thanks all I just wasn't sure whether to keep Moses basket in our bedroom for nighttime only, but as you have said will be trial & error xxx

The official advice is for the baby to sleep wherever you are during the night and day for the first 6 months, in which case the moses basket or a sling (lots of really comfortable ones you can use from birth, find a sling library near you to try them out) makes sense if you are moving round the house.

In my opinion the tnct replies on this site are the most annoying thing about it and contradict the actual concept of the site itself.

I think they're also deleting/policing comments. I wrote a couple yesterday, which have mysteriously disappeared (and they weren't offensive in any way, because I'm not that sort of person?!) What's that about, TNCT?

That is the official advice-to reduce the risk of SIDS, then you make your own decision as to what is right for you. You have to balance up research with coping on a day to day basis, if you don't know what the research says then it's hard to make an informed decision. Please do what ever is right for you and your family-that is the most important thing.

I wud love my son to stay in my room for 6 months but a cot doesn't fit in my bedroom and with his dad being 6ft5 he doesn't fit in his basket anymore so he has to go in his own room, also he needs to b in there as when I go bk to work in 2 months I will b getting up at 4.45am so wudnt b fair on either of us having him in our room!! u hav to do what works for u

Whilst Moses baskets are great when they are little as light and mobile, my LO had outgrown it between 3-4months so other options needed to be sought.

I have one of those V shaped pillows on the sofa; I close the v up, put a soft blanket on top and put my daughter on that for her naps. She can't roll of it as it forms a bit of a crevasse. She is 13 weeks old tomorrow and I'm going to start putting her in her cotbed during her daily naps to get her used to the room as I intend to move her in there at nights in a few weeks. Obviously I will be using a baby monitor... I live in an apartment so we are on the same floor so easy to check on her.

She outgrew her moses basket by 9 weeks so I bought a crib (which is a bit longer and wider). Wish I'd done that to begin with instead of the moses basket! Hindsight eh...
