My Amelia is 1 week today, she is breastfed only and sleeps for 3 to 4 hours, i have to wake her because my breast start to get engorged and painful, is it normal for breastfeed baby to sleep this long, I do appreciate this during the night but it scares me to hell, i keep waking and checking that shes OK.

hey..yes this is common.newborns are eat sleep poop repeat lol, .if u don't want to wake her u can express ur milk and maybe freeze it for future use..tht way ur supply will keep up and u can both rest. x

Make the most of it! When my boy was a newborn he was asleep 95% of the time! After a couple of weeks he started being awake a lot more x

Hey newborns do pretty much sleep all the time.....at least they are meant to. My son didn't get the memo about the sleeping thing and was awake most of the day like a big boy when he was in fact a diddy boy who should have been asleep lol. Enjoy the peace :-) x

I'm basically just going to echo what the last replies/ answers have said & enjoy the peace for now :)

I find the more babies grow they become more aware of what & who is around them so she' all definitely start waking up a lot more in the future.

I don't want to sound mean but there are people whose babies don't sleep like that and they are newborns and then they see this posts and feel depressed enjoy it if yours sleeps a lot your lucky I don't see any problem if you weigh her and she is gaining weight and healthy

My little girl is 2 weeks old. She sleeps a lot I had to wake her up for her feed I breast feed mine. My breast gets really painful. I keep checking on her to see if she's ok. If my breast gets too full I try + use the breast pump than the pain goes down a bit.
