I think I felt slight flutters between 16-17weeks. I've never been 100% sure! I'm 20 weeks tomorrow, and have felt more of a 'twitchy' feeling over the past few days. However, there's no set pattern as to when I feel them (every 2-3 days).

I've read that some first time Mums don't tend to feel much, if anything, until later on in the pregnancy. Hopefully, at around 20 weeks, the flutters will get more regular and strong - until we're both worrying about our insides being kicked to bits!

Hope the scan goes well on Friday. Are you going to find out the sex, if offered?

OH, and does one have to have a full bladder for it, like the 12 week scan?

No u don't need a full bladder the baby is big enough for them too see without extra fluid x

Thank God, the sonographer was running 45 minutes late last time, I was squeezing my OH's hand in desperation! X

I know im saying i cant feel much the now, bet when it starts kicking propertly i wish it was slight movements again lol! I dont want to know the sex but i am looking up the num theory the now, not sure if youve heard of it, its quite interesting. xx

I was 21 weeks when I first felt him move..it can all depend where ur placenta is laying. .how ur baby is laying x

**Nub theory sorry, also looking at the skull theory (very bored in work lol) Are you going to find out the sex? xx

in reply to first-time-mum

I've read about it, but couldn't tell anything from my first scan, as some of the things online say - the main thing being that I couldn't see any 'nub'!

I'm excited to find out (if possible). Both my OH and I have a bit of a 'gut feeling', so will be interesting to know if our instincts are right. We weren't going to tell people the sex, but we've had friends giving us their opinions. Oh, and the hairdresser told me he was never wrong, then asked if I was wearing a necklace (to dangle over my bump, hahahaha!)

More than anything, I'm like you - so excited to see my little baby again! X

I didn't find out the sex of my baby but from the start it felt somehow like a boy. And it was :D I won't find out next time either and am interested in seeing if I can feel it again whichever way x

At the start i was sure i was having a girl and over the last few weeks ive been like nope defintly a boy (just a gut feeling, not going by any of the nub or skull theories" then my cousins other half is scary with how right he predicts sexs of unborns. And he said girl... oh well looks like ill be waiting until i give that final push and my OH can say "its a......................." xx

Lovely moment. Mine was a bit different as I had a c section under general anaesthetic so I missed his birth lol. But when I woke, I asked where "he" was....then thought I should actually ask the sex before assuming haha! It just came out without thinking lol! x

Second the placenta thing - I have felt no.s 3 & 4 early on (from around 16/17 wks) but this time with no. 5 have placenta at front and didn't feel much til after 20 weeks. Size can make a difference apparently - my big and beautiful friend felt her babies later but once she felt them they gave her as much kicking as mine! Different babies too seem to do things differently - my first girl and my two boys were big kickers and my second daughter and this one (a girl I think) have gone easier on me!

I'm a first time mum, size 8 pre-pregnancy, not particularly fit and I didn't feel my girl properly until I was about 26 weeks! I felt 'bubbles' a day before my 20 week scan but nothing really then until the 26 week mark. Mind you, my placenta was low laying and anterior.

The nub theory was correct for me (as well as the gender calculator on the bounty site - which was also right for everyone that I put in). I'd attach a photo of my 12 week scan where you can clearly see the 'nub' is horizontal, but there doesn't seem to be a way to attach it to these posts. I've not heard of the scull theory though.

Ooh, what's the gender calculator? Is that where you put your age when the baby was conceived + the month that the baby's due? X

Yes that's the one - I just looked, it's actually the baby gender predictor (it's been a while since I used it lol) bounty.com/organiser-tools/... x

in reply to

Tht bounty one didn't work for me..said I was having a girl. .I most definitely hav a little boy here lol..x

Awww gutted lol it's worked so well up until now :p I just knew I was having a girl even before I conceived; we didn't even think of boys names! x

in reply to Armywag

The gender predictor said boy. But the sonographer said a girl. Then again, he also said there's always a small chance that she is actually a boy, and is just tucking the...'bits' away! I thought girl before we found out though.... X

Bounty one says girl for me... hmmm we will just have to wait and see :):) xx

Yea it went well, yea mines was so clear but the picture I got wasn't so clear. Everything was measuring fine :) how was yours xx

in reply to first-time-mum

The same! There were a couple of moments where the sonographer was saying things like "And this is the cerebellum", and I just nodded and pretended I could see exactly what he was pointing to!! I've just posted a question about gender confusion though, because we've been told a girl but nobody can ever be sure with girls, lol! X
