I was told this too! I couldn't keep Hugo awake at all he would literally feed sleep poo!!! And then he'd be awake during the night!! :( he suddenly after a few weeks changed and started waking more in the day! You just sleep when he sleeps!! Xx

Newborns are supposed to start off sleeping a lot. I don't really understand why she thinks you need to actively try and change that yet. Bubba will do it naturally. I wish my baby had slept through the day as well as night as is expected of a bubbas that young. But no. He was a cheeky little sod lol. As Rach said, sleep when they sleep at the mo to get rested :D x

sleep when he sleeps and ignore tht bit of advice as he gets bigger and he can see more and do more he will stay awake x

What strange advice. Is there a particular reason the mw wants to keep little Noah awake? Tiny wee babies are supposed to sleep loads. Is he sleeping through feeds or something and not taking enough food? There are a few tips to keep babies awake long enough to feed like blowing on their faces, massaging their cheeks etc.

My health visitor said "we start to worry when babies sleep all the time" didn't explain why! Rang my mum and she said its nonsense!!! So long as baby is feeding frequently, even if it means waking him, (which we had to do) let him sleep and enjoy the quiet!! :)

Make the most of it and sleep when your baby sleeps. My lo wouldn't sleep much in the day or at night to begin with and I never got enough rest! I think under 10lb in weight they should eat every 3 hours though. But they do sleep the majority of the day at that age!
