winter coat for growing bump

The days are growing colder and none of my coats fit anymore. I'm 24weeks and need ideas of whats best to get for the winter ahead. Normally a size 14, maternity ranges in stores on high street seem very limited. What did u ladies do / plan to do?

Any advice appreciated :) xx

I got a nice maternity one from New Look for the winter just gone. Seems they have a wide range online this year too. m.newlook.com/mcs/publish/4...

I was pregnant last winter, it was difficult getting a coat! What about something in this style with no buttons/ zip and just a belt?

Or a "cape" style one?

I need one too :( debenhams & new look have a few nice ones online, both their ranges seem to be mostly online only though. I haven't been able to get many clothes in store at all :/

yeah, I know what u mean. I prefer to shop in stores for clothes because I like to test the material and feel for thickness and stuff, especially with coats

Sizes are a nightmare too! All shops vary, so looks like I'm going to be ordering things in different sizes then sending stuff back! :/

I went to new look and got a lovely coat. It was only £35 or £40 and is sooooo comfortable. They do it in a non maternity version too and it is really flattering. It has poppers down the side, 2 sets, one for a tighter fit one for looser and a belt which does up just under the bust. Wore it yesterday for the first time and was very pleased. x

I got one recently from George at Asda. Not maternity, just their normal range. It's black, a proper coat but flared out into a cape style/swing style, so plenty of room for a growing bump. It had a horrible fake fur collar on it, but that's removable - looks much smarter without it I think. I paid £30. If you go to the George at Asda website and search for "G21 swing coat with faux fur collar", it's the black one.

Yes, got my normal size. Haven't worn it outside yet, but sure I will soon as it's getting chilly! It looks fairly warm. It's not a big, thick wool coat or anything like that, but definitely winter weight - should be fine with a jumper and a scarf. I didn't want to spend a fortune on a coat that I might only wear for one winter. Plus, I think this is smart enough to take to my brother's wedding next weekend - if the weather's like today then a pashmina isn't going to cut it.

I picked one all year stuff from TKKMax for 25 ish, it was an military coat style with a belt, basically to layer up and also acted as a good Mac, Used it during snowy season of March and April (:P) during sunny vacations and now when the rain falls (and the bump has gone) - thanks to the belt and double breast design !

I got one from tesco not maternity one. I got it in a bigger size and it wasnt to thick or wolly. I used throughout my pregnancy. Im due in 15th of this month. I didnt want to spent too much money on a coat.

I went for a poncho/cape type thing that seem to be all the fashion this season thankfully!! got loads in Debenhams, also seen them is asda, Matalan and Tesco and very reasonably priced. also I moved the buttons on a couple of my old coats to the very edge of the coat and that has enabled me to wear my fave red mac throughout the rest of my pregnancy!!!

I got a tick wrap style one in the sale at this time last year. The belt fastens it, I did get the size up. It lasted me till the end of my pregnancy and more importantly it was warm!!!X x
