Perineal massage?

Hello was wondering if Perineal massage is really worth doing? Any ladies who have done them and from how many weeks and often? Any advice on how to actually do them and if it really does make the difference? Or did you still tear at the end or was cut? Many thanks

To be honest ive never heard any good or bad stories about the effects/ benefits of an perineal massage but it has being something im also reading more about as I teared quite badly when I was giving birth to my son nearly 5yrs ago & id like to try & prevent it from happening again.

I've Never done it tore a little bit with my first but nothing too bad have torn on the inside about a cm in but it's never bothered me is just having a feel afterwards in the bath I've noticed it wouldn't of otherwise. . haven't Torn with last 2 just on the inside again but that seems to heal really quickly
