You poor, poor thing. For most people it gets better from around 12 weeks. Not for everyone, but even if it carries on past that, it's usually not as bad as at the start. Hang in there. It's a really good sign the baby is okay!

I really hope it stops at the 12 week mark I don't know how much more I can handle! I think the thought its a good sign is all that's keeping me going looks like I'm going to have to leave my job though! The first trimester is a tough one!

From my experience I would love to say it gets better but i was sick every day for 9 months, only stopped 10 days ago when I gave birth. I hope u r different. ..majority of people stop feeling ill around 15weeks ish. Xx

I am 9 + 1 and very sick also. Managing to keep fluids down though so hopefully will escape without being admitted this time round. Hope you are one of the lucky ones and it gets better for you soon...I know from my last three pregnancies that I have never been lucky and with all the others managed to be sick every day for the whole 9 months. Hoping this time will be different but not putting any bets on it. You really do have my sympathy though, good luck xxxx

Oh no, looks like lots of us unlucky ones have responded to you! Don't despair - it really does get better for most people. And even though I've still got sickness (22 weeks), it's a million times better than it was in the first trimester. Have the doctors talked about medication options? There are things you can take if it's unbearable.

Yeah I have tried a lot of different medicines they just don't seem to be working been in and out if hospital with dehydration as I can't keep water down! It's going to be worth it in the end I will keep repeating that to myself! Sorry to hear you are all having a hard time with sickness aswel! X

I was really sick with this pregnancy & was in hospital as well on a drip. Once I got the fluids & anti sickness meds straight in I felt slightly better. Hospital gave me home anti sickness tablets to be taken up to 3 a day. I started taking 1 in morn & see how I felt throughout the day. Luckily there was only a few days I needed more than 1. I am now 14+6 & only stopped taking the tablets on Monday & (touch wood) I feel ok. Every pregnancy & everyone is different so u need to do what u feel is right for you. Hopefully you feel better soon xxx

Sorry but you don't have morning sickness, which does go away around 12 weeks, you have hyperemesis gravidarum, which more often than not sticks around for the whole pregnancy, although it does usually improve at around the halfway mark. Mine got better at 18 weeks but i had been on effective medication since 6 weeks and the sooner you get effective treatment, the shorter the illness lasts. On the plus side, honestly, there is a plus side, the charity Pregnancy Sickness Support pregnancysicknesssupport.or... have a national support network so you can have your own personal support volunteer to help you through this awful time. They can also advise you about medications and what to do if they're not working. Some hospitals I'm sorry to say are not very good at treating hyperemesis and you're just on this merry go round of drip, home, spew, drip etc. a good hospital will pull out all the stops to get you a medication regime which works and some of them nowadays are even introducing home IV for severe cases. PSS can tell you where the good hospitals are, sometimes it's even in the same city or district and you're free to change. It's a sad fact that some health care professionals are really ignorant about hyperemesis and will tell you rubbish like it stops at 12 weeks and it means you can't have a miscarriage. PSS will tell you the facts and get you the support you need. Also see pregnancysicknesssos.co.uk for more information, coping strategies and results of research.
