Hi, i am 41+2. My dad just rang and randomly said that i wasn't to have any hot baths. It got me thinking and looking online but still don't really understand. What harm can it do now that baby bump is fully developed?

I'm not too sure. Read somewhere that a hot bath is good for the first stages of labour to help with pains but I don't think it is suppose to be really hot. I would assume cos if too hot would raise your blood pressure, I would say you'll be fine as long as not too hot & don't forget to leave the door unlocked incase you need help getting out :-)

A really hot bath would lower your BP via vasodilatation - blood vessels get bigger, so pressure is reduced x

So long as your waters haven't gone, a bath is fine. If they have - showers only xx

Thanks. Waters haven't gone. My baths aren't scorching but not warm either. I am sure bump will be fine

Every time I had a bath when pregnant, my other half would get the hump... Think he seriously thought I was trying to turn out LO in to a boil in the bag affair!! ;-p

I have not been able to have a bath that is even remotely hot since was pregnant, my skin just reacts so mine are Luke warm & lay in until its cold without battering an eye lid. My OH thinks I am crazy but it works for me.
