Hello all, I'm 18 weeks on Wednesday and have been experiencing bad headaches from around 5 weeks. Recently, the headache is lasting 4 days.

I have never really experienced such headaches pre pregnancy. I am drinking lots of water and my bp seems to be around 98/54 any advice would be great! Thanks all.

Did you get headaches pre-pregnancy? Any personal or family history of migraine? Do you wear glasses/contacts? Where does your head hurt, is the headache constant or does it come and go. If it comes and goes, when is it worse? You should get yourself checked out with your GP as this is not settling - better safe than sorry. X

Hello dr Duffy,

Thanks for you response.

No family hx. I did not get headaches pre pregnancy. They have been coming and going but for the last 4 days has been constant starting to ease up today. I don't wear glasses/contacts. The headache is like a throb all over and at nape of neck I'm getting some mild nausea with it but not coming to fruition.

Thanks again. Think ill go for an eye test maybe and let the midwife know?

Kindest regards x

As a glasses wearer I had quite bad headaches early pregnancy and was due for an eye test so I went and he said tht eyes change alot during pregnancy specially at beginning due to hormones. Much btr now but he said come bk 3 months after had ur baby too get glasses as my eyes wud b bk to how they were although they r fine (I also hav an eye condition which probably didnt help) But if it persists a trip to the docs is no harm. X

Hi ceribean,

Oh really this did not cross my mind. Think I will go for an eye test then. Thank you for your help. X

Dr Told me they can be hormonal.... but who knows I've never experienced anything like it had been agony! Def Go to ur g.p and get checked I'm also going to get my eyes checked xx

just a quick tip though if you do get ur eyes checked just mention ur pregnant as when I went he very kindly gave me a free eye test but also said he personally wouldn't advise getting glasses when pregnant because ur eyes change and you will be paying out then when u have had the baby and ur eyes maybe revert back to pre pregnancy u will have to pay out again for a different pescription and me being me I don't have a cheap taste for glasses as If I wear them I want them to look nice so I refuse to fork out £250 twice a year so I took the test but didn't get glasses last time as my eyes had only changed ever so slightly, x

Hi Ceribean

I've just got my eyes checked and they say I need glasses for reading, tv etc.. The glasses were only £69 so not too bad and tbh I think I needed glasses pre preg so ill try them x fingers crossed and thanks for all your help x

I had the same....have you cut caffeine out? that was what was causing my headaches so I now have one cup of tea a day.

I went from drinking around 8 cups of tea a day to stopping totally as it made me feel sick. I had quite a lot of headaches at this stage which I also put down to caffeine withdrawal. As my body adapted the headaches eased. I finally started drinking tea again a few weeks back, but no more than 2 a day.

ah cool, well hopefully the glasses will help, give them a chance to bed in as sometimes it takes ur eyes a while to adjust. ah cool least wasn't too expensive for u xx
