Hi all... I had my 20 week scan yesterday and found out were having a baby girl!! :) however when the sonographer checked the sex

I felt as though she only had a quick look and now I feel uncertain :/ anyone else had the same experience at there gender scan?

It's not a gender scan - it's an anomaly scan, and yes, they can be wrong: at 20 weeks, a foetus can have a large clitoris which can be mistaken for a penis, or a small penis that looks like a clitoris.

Antenatal ultrasonographers are highly skilled and spend all day looking at multiple babies (3-4 an hour)... There are only two things it could be ;-p. most ultrasonographers will stress that it's not 100% accurate.

When I was in hospital after having my LO, the woman in the bed opposite thought her little boy was going to be a girl - that was after her 20 week scan AND a private gender scan! We stayed 'team yellow' mostly for the surprise, but also to avoid costly misinterpretations!!

I know it's not 100% and I do feel reassured that they see so many babies a day but just would have thought they would have took a little more time..x

I just had my 20week ultrasound and the tech was a radiologist tech she didn’t tell me anything the whole time I was in the room and then said she don’t see anything to determine wether boy or girl. But the babies legs were closed and crossed the whole time. I got no answers at all

When we had our 20 week scan the sonographer stressed that it wasn't 100% accurate but what she could see of our baby it was a boy so as a result we haven't told anyone and have went for all neutral colours (except one wee blue suit hee hee) x

I'm hoping they got mine right as I bought Blue! Some People rekon I'm having a girl so am a bit just a little bit apprehensive!

On my first baby, when I had my 20week scan they got the times wrOng and didnt do a full scan and quickly scanned over him but told me it was a girl, week and half later I gave birth to a little boy, and had the ordeal of having to bury my son and take back a load of girls clothes, with this baby I've have it checked at 16/20/24/30 week scan and boy each time, no matter how much they do it they can still always get it wrong so as annoying as it is to wait I'd just wait till another scan to buy anything. Can be a very costly mistake for you.

At my 20 week scan I saw my baby boy genitals before the sonographer.Then she said definetely boy. Can it still be wrong?

we payed for a private scan they said they were 150% it is a boy , but we have showed friends , compared our pictures with other scans it looks like a girl it has 3 clear lines we dont know what to do apart from wait for our 20 wk scan in couple of weeks see what hospital say any ideas or advice??? thanks

I guess just wait out till your 20 week scan and see if they say the same... We had a 4d scan when I was 26 weeks pregnant and they confirmed that she is a little girl so it definitely put our minds at ease. Perhaps when you have your 20 week scan ask the sonographer to point it out to you on the screen, I know it made me feel better when I had the time to see for myself what was between babys legs good luck!!xx

I was told 2 girls I had 2 girls, usually a boy is obvious.
