hi there, that's great you are having twins, I have never experienced having twins, but im sure you will be fine in labour as ive heard its just the same pain as having 1 baby,

also you will get to know your babies & will know who is who, majority of twins do look the same, but as a parent you will get to know who is who, take care x

Ahh how lovely twins. ..You Could tie something round their wrist so u can tell them apart, if they look so alike. ...? U usually have twins earlier dont you? Don't think they let u go full term. ..exciting times xx

Hi Betty,

I've never had twins but have been doing some reading as I have a feeling about this pregnancy as I am huge and way more sick than with either my boys or girls!

What kind of birth seems to depend on the position in later pregnancy of the twin who is going to be born first. If that baby is head down into the pelvis then the signs for a vaginal birth are good as it is probable that the other twin will follow easily or that the MW/consultant can maneuver the baby by using their hands on your bump to get them coming the right way. If the first baby is not head down then a Caesarean is usually recommended. Twins births are usually quite highly managed with continuous monitoring of the babies' heartbeats through the labour which can restrict how much you can move about. If you choose not to have that MWs can listen in every few minutes like they would in a straightforward singleton birth. Entirely up to you but I'm saying it as it's something they don't usually tell you you have a choice about! Likewise you are usually advised to have an epidural but as always the choice is yours. There is a bit of info on the NCT website here: nct.org.uk/birth/multiple-b... I have borrowed a friends book called Twins & Multiple Births by Dr Carol Cooper, but those on here who have had twins already might have a better recommendation. All the very best to you.
