almost 32 weeks and a drop in growth rate

I am 31+5 weeks pregnant. Went for a scan on thursday and there has been a bit of a drop in my little ones growth. I worry so much as I had a sb last year at almost full term. Have to go for another scan in 2 weeks. I have been worrying ever since. Wondered if anyone here has been in a similar situation? x

Hi hun im sorry to hear of your previous loss :-( my third baby slowed down towards the end I was measuring 37/38 @ 40+3 an he was 7lb the smallest of my three but was perfect. Im sure your little bubble is just tucked up tight and happy xx plenty of time for a growth spurt too xx

Often it's just an under measurement, especially if baby's growth has been consistent. I had a one off funny reading (higher though) during my 2 weekly scans - suddenly went from 50th centile to 95th! 'Back' at 50th centile two weeks later.

Hope all is well xx

I had to sign up to this in order to put your mind at ease. My situation is exactly the same as yours, i was having extra scans anyway due to my first daughter who was stillborn at term and they discovered my baby is measuring small. Ive been scanned every two weeks to check and they have also offered me to come in to the hospital at anytime to have a trace of baby (this is purely for my peace of mind). They gave me steroids at 30 weeks in case of an early delivery. Nothing is showing them that there is a problem now they just think i'll have small baby ill also be induced at 38 weeks because of my past sb. i think you will be fine they are monitoring the situation for you which is best- imagine if you wasnt aware of this. Ask your hospital if you can go in to be traced even if its once a week im sure they would allow you.

Thank you so much for taking the time to register to answer my question. It is so hard to relax in this pregnancy after what happened and i am sure you are the same. So sorry to hear that you went through this as well. My consultant too has talked about delivering me at 38 weeks. I don't think i will relax until i have him in my arms and healthy xx

Hi there

Really sorry about your previous loss. Ive registered as needed to try and put your mind at ease. I had exactly the same with my little girl, had growth scans at 32, 34, and 36 weeks and her growth wasn't what it should have been and kept dropping off. This was really stressful for us as the doctors try to scare monger you into thinking the worst. in the end it turned out that i had developed severe pre eclampsia in week 36 and because of her not growing and my health issues they decided to bring her out as I wasn't providing anything for her and she was unlikely to grow any more so I was induced at 37+1 she was just a small baby at 5lb 4 she's 10 weeks old now and she's great. My midwife even offered to see me every week to check her heartbeat too so we knew she was ok. I can't begin to imagine how you're feeling but try to stay positive, you know your body and I'd ask to go into be traced too and see if you can see your midwife more frequently if you can. Hope it all goes well for you . Good luck for your next scan you'll know more then . People have such big babies nowadays they aren't used to the littler ones!

Thank you so much for your reply. That was really comforting words. I am so glad your little girl and you were both fine. It is such a worry this time round, and people taking their time on here to reassure me is very much appreciated. Was your little girl okay when she was born or did she need any help? I am sure you are enjoying your wonderful little girl now xx

No she was fine when she arrived no complications at all a perfectly healthy baby and labour was fine. She was just a small baby that's all but nowadays the doctors seem to panic when the baby's little as there's so many big ones! You'll have a better idea at the next scan. We tried to look at it this way- most people only have 2 scans and we ended up with 6 in total and we got to see her each time and it was a blessing to know she was ok. I really do hope everything's ok for you I think speaking to other people will definitely help you too. Xx if there's anything else you'd like to know feel free to ask x
