All day nausea and not interested in food..

I'm just into my 7th week and for the past week I've lost all interest in food. I can only manage really bland food like white bread and plain cereal. I'm worried that if this lasts much longer then I won't be getting the right nutrients for the baby. I've always eaten really healthily before this and I'm feeling like I'm letting the baby down by not eating what I need to. I've also been feeling nauseous for the past 2 weeks and found that travel bracelets are really helping ( just in case anyone is struggling). I am taking pregnancy vitamins but I would like to do as much as I can to give myself and the baby the best start possible. Any suggestions?

Lots of sympathy! I'm in the same boat - felt really sick for the last 4 weeks. I reckon just eat what you can, when you can. I've heard that your body will look after your baby first, so you're more likely to suffer than the baby is. Hang in there and hope it eases soon!

You poor thing, it's miserable isn't it?

Firstly don't beat yourself up - teeny weeny babies like yours don't actually need you to eat a huge amount to grow healthily, plus they will take vitamins etc from you and leave your body without rather than themselves so baby will be absolutely fine.

Eat whatever you can face - I pretty much survived on crisps and crackers during my first trimester but occasionally fancied tinned fruit (random!) so hoped to gleam a few vitamins from that! Keep taking your pregnancy supplement and drink as much water as you can.

There is light at the end of the tunnel - 11 weeks for me - so hang in there and just be kind to yourself, baby will be fine :-) obviously if the sickness is severe and you're struggling to keep fluids down then go and see your GP who will be able to give you a helping hand.

I didn't have any sickness during my first pregnancy and really had no idea how lucky I was! Take care :-) x

Thank you, that's offered some reassurance. It's strange as my mum and nana never suffered with morning sickness so I assumed I would be the same....guess not!! Plus I heard something about morning sickness is a sign that your pregnancy hormone is really strong so that's good I guess. X

Poor you! I've been where you are three times! It does get easier though so keep going hun. Just eat what you fancy when you fancy it. I had sickness all the way through with my little girl then with both my boys I had it all day all night until 20 weeks. No matter how rotten you feel just keep focused on the end result :-D xxx

Im 21wks pregnant today & ive just started to get my appetite back in the last week or so. Although this is my 2nd pregnancy i can honestly say it definetely different from my 1st. Dont worry too much about the nutrients you are managing to give the baby , as long as you're managing to keep what you eat down ( not sick) the baby will be fine.

Really don't worry, the baby will take all the nutrients from you. I'm 19 weeks now and from about 8 weeks I had no appetite and felt so sick. I lost about 2.5 kg but that's all gone now and I'm feeling great except for the pelvic/hip pain.

My sis had hyperemesis the really bad sickness, she was in and out of hospital with dehydration throughout the whole pregnancies but both her boys 3 +1 yrs old are prefect.

You will get past this, just keep sipping/drinking the water as that's so important and eat what you can when. Little and often. I found less effort foods easier. I couldn't face chopping up fruit so pre cut or tinned stuff helped.

Good luck just keep thinking about that gorgeous naughty little baby inside you causing all the trouble :-)xxx
