I have lupus & took clexane throughout my pregnancy from about 7 weeks till 6 weeks after birth. Apart from the bruises along my tummy & the fact that it nipped a but sometimes when it went in, I had no issues & the benefits are my healthy 10 week old baby boy ?? xxx

Just 'prophylactic' dose (40mg a day) while I was in hospital... It's given sub-cutaneously (not into muscle) so really short needle which I neatly felt. Enoxaparin doesn't cross the placenta, which is why it's the anticoagulant of choice in pregnancy (unlike warfarin, which does and it also a touch teratogenic) xx

Injected myself from about 6 weeks pregnant to six weeks after birth due to blood disorder. Apart from a few bruises (as I wasn't very good at injecting!) no problems at all!

I'm on 2x 40mg injections a day of Clexane and will be for the duration of my pregnancy (currently 22w6d) . Despite an absolute terror of needles which I had to quickly overcome, the bruising is the worst part. The needles don't hurt as bad as you may think. There's a bit of stinging after the injection but you get used to it. No other problems really :-)

Good luck!

I haven't had clexane when pregnant but did have before.

One tip I was given is don't touch or rub the injection point after you've done it. Because it stings a bit natural reaction is to rub it to ease the pain. This can cause nasty bruises, as I discovered!!

Hope that helps :0)
