Everything fine at 20wk scan...except the baby's stomach didn't empty

The stomach was full at the start of the scan and it hadn't emptied by the end, so I am going back for another scan in a couple of weeks to check all is okay. Has anyone else had this come up at their scan?

If they were really concerened then I would have thought they would have looked further into it at the time instead of a couple of weeks. Are you worried about it? I would just give your midwife a ring on Monday and ask her advice she is bound to have heard of it before and will give you abit more reassurance. Try not to google to much as might send you abit potty and worry about something that you dont need to. What is your EDD?

I was called back for a second scan because the stomach was visible she never said whether it was because it never emptied or that fact it was visible on scan. But after a week went back and all went smoothly. Wishing you the best outcome x

Hi this exact thing happened to me when I wet for my 20 week scan, they couldn't see the stomach and I was told it hadn't emptied or filled while we were in there. I was really panicked and spent the next week on google reading into all the worst case scenarios. We went back a week later and everything was perfect. Someone on here told me to eat before the second scan so I don't no if this helped or not but it was such a relief to see everything was fine, im 28 weeks now. Try not to panic I'm sure all will be well when u go back x

Thanks for your replies:-). Trying not to worry and seeing it as a chance to have another look at it (having a surprise you see). Scan is early morning so hopefully breakfast might help. Just hope it's more cooperative than the last two scans, cheeky monkey is always curled up & hiding. Thanks again x
