Breastfeeding - should i pump at night?

My baby is 7 weeks old and feeds every 2 to 3 hours during the day. She is now sleeping through from 9pm until about 3am. I wake up with really hard and aching breasts should i pump? When does the milk supply start to regulate?

Yes u could do but then u would have to do that regularly as they would just become engorged of u didn't. ... so if ur happy to do that on a regular basis then great :)

as it works on a supply and demand basis , if u pump u will keep producing a ' feed ' at that time ! so having to wake up needlessly and all mums know sleep is precious : ) on the other hand u will have a stored milk ready if needed.

if its really uncomfortable pump a little to relieve the uncomfortableness and reduce the amount each time u pump so u will gradually reduce what is ' needed ' and stop producing so much and therefore stop the engorgement .

ur body will still produce for the feeds that are wanted , ur milk wont dry up it will just learn 1 isn't needed at that time .
