Hiya all,

Am 39 +5 weeks pregnant, when I walk I sometimes get sharp shooting pains down my legs? It takes my breath away, it doesn't happen in both legs at the same time though, any ideas?

Thanks

Does the pain radiate from your lower spine over your buttocks and down your leg(s)? One side maybe more frequent then the other ,If so it may suggests Sciatica, your very heavily pregnant and puts a lot of stress on the back and the big sciatic nerve may be intermittently trapped. Try and stretch it out and speak to your GP/Midwife etc for advice.

I am 22 weeks but have suffered with my back previously, rotated and tilted pelvis through injury and work stresses as I lift dead weights and I have seen colleagues of mine on crutches with sciatica during pregnancy so hope this does not become me (I gave up lifting when I got pregnant as I have been in Physio so many times and usually paid private to get me moving again and I can't afford to keep doing that)

It mainly feels like it is just down my legs, but I was thinking it could be sciatica, well hopefully not long to go now. Thanks xx
