Just found out I am pregnant and booked my first doctors appointment for the 7th what should I expect?
Congratulations! !! From my experience they will ask u when was the first day of ur last period was, ask u what hosp u want ur baby at,u can choose wherever u want, send off for ur maternity exemption card for free dental and prescriptions, take ur blood pressure and ask for a wee sample bottle when u check in at reception because they will check ur wee so if u can do one before u go in them even better! Give u an emmas diary which has some info about pregnancy, and some forms for bounty packs x
I will be honest when I went to the dr, all they asked was when my first day of my last period was and told me an estimated due date then told me that the midwife from the surgery wud b in touch. I didn't find it that useful as they didn't tell me anything I already didn't know and if I have another child I will just go straight to midwife but I think it depends in what area your in as my dr did none of the above. x
Going to the Dr when you first find out your pregnant is a complete let down! I went with all the expectations of doing a pregnancy test and having the pregnancy confirmed by the Dr but all the Dr did was ask for the first day of my last period, told me an estimated due date, filled in the form for the NHS exemption card and told me to make a "booking in" appt with the midwife.
Have to agree with everyone, dont expect to much, take a wee sample with you as well.
