I’m am writing for my grandma who is 60, she has suffered with an essential tremor for over 6 years now, it started in her hands and wasn’t bad however it’s progressed and got worse, it’s now in her legs, mouth and hands, she describes a shaking sensation all throughout her body. She has been to different GPS all have tested her for Parkinson’s and she hasn’t got it. She has been to see a private doctor that specialises in tremors he also said it wasn’t Parkinson’s. She has tried numerous medications, upping doses etc.

For example propamonol and other medications nothing stops the shaking. She is getting depressed with this now as nothing at all works she has been trying for years.

She’s tried home remedies and everything. She dosent know what to do and just wants her life back. The only thing that does calm the shaking down is if she has a little alcoholic drink at night, It seems to calm the shaking down. Even the doctors don’t know what to do with her anymore.

Elleeee I am 69, diagnosed with ET at age 52 and your grandmother's story is just like mine! I tried 4 meds. and then I had Deep Brain Stimulation surgery. The surgery helped some and I would have it again, but it was far from an answer to my prayers. There are recent advances in technology that I may try the next time I need to have the battery changed. If she hasn't already, check the web site for International Essential Tremor Foundation . Avoid caffeine, and perhaps she could try weighted silverware, a plate with a rim, and utensils designed for the handicapped.
