Holiday with a disability!

Have decided I need a break, the last 3 yrs have not been kind to me, I am looking for a short break in this county (England). It would need to accommodate my needs as I have IBM and although I am still on my feet (most of the time - fell over again this week, backwards, bump on head). I use a stick to get about. Living on my own I have no one to push a manual wheelchair and my home is on various levels so have not invested in a wheelchair yet HOWEVER for a holiday I would hope to hire one and have a "carer" or "volunteer" to push me. I appreciate to get the most out of a holiday I would need to be able to walk around sites which might be too far for me. I know there are special coaches that are adapted for people in wheelchairs and others like myself still walking but would not be able to do coach steps. I spent hours and hours looking at various websites. there are several companies that proudly boast about the hotels they use with accessible rooms or bungalows or apartments all on one floor, but self catering. Not want I want. I would need an "all in" holiday, with travel included to the resort.

I did find one holiday, 5 days to Norfolk, visiting Sandringham Estate, Norwich and a day on the water, using a coach with lift or ramp. Sounded ideal. I rang the company, told them what I would need in the way of additional equipment, helper for days when lots of walking plus a wheelchair. Just started getting excited thinking about clothes to take, which suitcase to use, when I heard back from the company, approx cost £3619, not counting extra for home pick up or cost of insurance! So we are talking c £4000 for 5 day trip to Norfolk. Out of my price range, by a long way.

Has anyone got any ideas for me to consider please? Here's hoping. thank you.

I use disabledaccessholidays.com they do holidays abroad and in this country, they put you in touch with a travel consultant and you tell them what you need. Hope this helps.
