medCram has a 40min YouTube video posted yesterday. Summary: if you’ve been vax and boosted and want to avoid infection, hospitalization, risk to others, long covidβ€”get this bivalent booster.

If your only concern is avoiding hospitalization you can get by with the prior vaxs and booster.

But of course if you’re on Ocrevus, get Evusheld!

I have gotten so many vacs plus the Evusheld! I could probably eat it and not get it 😐

But this new one is a live vaccine? Pros cons?

Im lost!πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ€—πŸ’•πŸŒ

I’m 99% sure it’s NOT live. It’s the mRNA covering the original variants+ omicron ba2

Evusheld needs to be repeated every 6 mos. I just got my 2nd

Well, I got my Moderna Bivalent Booster yesterday at my local Giant Eagle Grocery store (where I have had my two vacc's and two boosters). This is my fifth shot.

Although all I know is that the CDC recommends getting boosted as needed, as the full effects of the injections usually wane by the fifth month (and that's on normal folks, not immune modulated/or suppressed folks).

I was on Avonex for the first four shots, and my first bivalent booster is now sixth months into new Aubagio tx. Both of my treatments were "immune-modulators" (Avonex from Sept. 1997- March 2012 & Aubagio April 2022 to present).

Regardless, staying updated with your booster is important. This new Bivalent dose is for both the A and B strains of Covid. But, be sure to talk to your neuro to find out the best timing to update your booster with your current MS tx.

FWIW, taking an advil every six hours seems to make my side effects manageable. I had my booster about 1:00 pm on Monday, and I am writing this at nearly 5 pm on Tuesday, September 20.

Best of luck! πŸ˜€πŸ™πŸ‘

Oh I don't take anything like that until it comes from my neuro! πŸ˜‚ I just want to know more about it before I email him, as I need to anyhow!πŸ™‚πŸ€—πŸ’•πŸŒ

Hi Jes, I think this is the covid vax for the omicron variant.

Not for me! My lungs are already in too bad shape already. I will continue with the recommended supplements: High doses of Vit C, zinc, and D, plus elderberry and probiotics. And prayer!

How does the injection affect your lungs? πŸ€—

I probably should not have posted that statement. My decision making process is totally affected by losing 1/3 of my brain to MS. My daughter reminds me of that, and that I have also lost social boundaries when talking or texting. I should just say I have personal reasons for my decision by listening to a RT specialist who has treated a lot of patients with blood clots in their lungs caused by the vaccines. I should not advise anyone about this critical situation,

Everyone has a right to make their own decisions about what is best for them agapepilgrim That has never been an issue! We love you! πŸ€—πŸ’•πŸŒ

There is a lot of information not given to the public because Big Pharma wants to make big bucks. It is sad. At one point I refused to take a particular MS DMT because upon researching the Pharma company that made it, I found out it was a med that has been sold to MS patients for about 15 years, for a astronomical price that was plenty of revenue to recoup their money invested in research many times over. That particular company made enough profits that they bought out two other pharmaceutical companies. I simply refuse to support that company. At this point I am taking no meds that I have to pay more than $7 a month copay. I follow the Wahl's diet loosely, because my gastritis and duodenitis greatly limits my choice of foods. As for exercise, it is frustrating to me to try anything anymore because I keep hurting myself. Even chair yoga caused shoulder pain for 2 days. Two days ago, I was following a MS stretch routine, and somehow hurt my ankle muscles or ligaments or whatever and I have been wearing an ankle brace for 3 days. I feel successful if I can use my Gazelle "walker" for 10 minutes a day. I am happy and thankful, though, that I can still take care of personal needs and respond on this forum a few times a month. My cousin died of MS at age 58. So, at 75, living with MS for almost 60 years, I am very, very blessed.

I'm vaxed and boosted and have never had Covid. I'm on Ocrevus so are you saying I should get the Evusheld and not the Bivalent? My doctor's been strongly recommending the Evusheld I just haven't decided to get it yet.

I am scheduled this Friday after work to get Covid vax. #5 and my flu shot. The former always makes me sick overnight afterwards so I've always gotten them on a Friday so I have the weekend to recover before I have to return to work.

jimeka profile image
jimeka in reply to mrsmike9

how were you getting both the flu shot and Covid together? Didyou have them in separate arms?

Robsmom profile image
Robsmom in reply to jimeka

jimeka they're giving both here at the same time. My partner got his Covid booster and flu shot at the same time last fall. I never do flu shots so I just got the booster.

At the recommended of my PCP/hospital/neurologist I got evushield in May and will time the 2nd set at the end of Oct about a month before O infusion.

Did the bi-varient shot a week ago Saturday (the only covid shot with next to no reactions πŸ™ŒπŸ») and I’ll get my gf love you!! Shot next month as they asked me to wait a little longer on my flu shot.

In all cases talk to your Dr. Know what’s happened with your other shots. Covid vax wanes at 4 months on average so being hoisted is warranted - again it’s to prevent death not symptoms.

Good luck πŸ€
