Update for my friends here

The neurologist said I don’t have MS. Says it is “degenerative spine disease”

He says the inflammation is causing so much pressure on my spinal cord, it is causing all of my problems.

They are holding me here overnight, so I can be seen by the neurosurgeon tomorrow. ASAP.

I tried to put it off till Friday, so I could travel home on the shuttle today and return on the shuttle on Friday. They didn’t like that idea, so I am staying in a hospital wing tonight, without a toothbrush or phone charger.

Thanks everyone.

I will see what tomorrow brings.

Great news about no MS. I’m sorry about the need for surgery, but am praying for an easy and quick recovery.

Please let us know how it goes.

They have toothbrushes in the welcome bucket. Your nurse may charge your phone for you if you ask. It sounds like you are fixable and I’m so glad for that!! Let us know how it goes, we will be thinking about you!!

Happy for you that you were medically cleared from having MS, Redhead!!...I have DDD, as well...it can mimic MS...I saw three neurosurgeons...and did the research...for me, surgery was always a last resort...as the trade off was said to be risk for chronic pain...physical therapy helped...after learning from PT, I joined a gym...I do not do any heavy lifting or use any equipment that causes me to twist my spine and I’m careful with bending at the waist too much, as well...hope you have success with your treatment, whatever you decide...never give up...blessings! 🕊

Good morning time flies

I have read and heard how it can mimic ms.

I asked about doing a spinal tap, but he said no.

But then, I think they also rush through the appointment. Thanks.

Nurses will bring you a toothbrush, just ask. Hospitals are used to unplanned stays. When I broke my ankle, friends took care of everything: the dogs, the hens, cleaned out the refrigerator, did the dishes in the sink, brought me my phone, charger, laptop, and eventually snuck bread and cheese into skilled nursing. I hope your neurosurgeon consult is positive. Do let us know.

so glad no ms.sounds like you may have something fixable!best to you still scary

Glad you have an answer with hope for a viable solution. The MS club is not one where a lifetime membership is desirable so glad you dodged that!

Best wishes with your appt w the neurosurgeon and recovery thereafter.

And yes, please let us know how it all goes.

Anyone who has really bad back pain (inflammation pressing on nerves) knows how you are feelilng. I have both for over 40 years. Do NOT go for surgery unless it is causing you to be incontinent. Surgeons do surgery! I was told 2x to have back surgery and chose PT, Acupuncture (instant relief) and chiropractor. I get better and exercise, stretch to keep my functioning!!

Keep us informed. I was told probably MS, then NO, you don't have MS to next neuro saying, I think it IS MS. I have both now!

Healing hugs, Jan

That's a really good thing! The other's not fun, but, sounds like with some work, some worries, it is a doable situation that can be overcome! Good Luck, Lucky! Okay, maybe nervewracking, but doable! The good thing about surgery, besides if all goes well you get fixed, during it, you get to sleep through it.

Goodness! I hope it can be fixed! Do let us know how things go. (Gads, they can't give you a toothbrush!!!)

Thanks again. I got a toothbrush but no toothpaste or baking soda. Lol

They usually give you a toothbrush and toothpaste if you are admitted to the hospital. Hopefully you are able to get some toothpaste by now! Hope everything is okay and that you have found out more info about what is going on. I would do pt, excercise, anything before I had my back operated on. I have a bulging disk and sciatica issues that pop up randomly.

Keep us updated,

Jessie
