Update..... πŸ€—

Hi guys, I posted back along about my partner not being able to lie flat for an mri so I was questioning an open scanner which I've later found out are not anywhere near as benofficial.

He is 5 years over due because he can't lie down, the eply manouver is not an option as his vertigo is so chronic, he's had in excess of 13 appointments canceled in this time, he has only ever seen his neurologist twice in 5 years.

We can never get hold of his ms nurse as she is always away or unavailable for whatever reason so he basically just goes without.

Unbelievable...... However, after making numerous phone calls and having a squeezed appointment with his neuro last Friday, he was... to my absolute complete shock.... offered a mri scan for the following Tuesday!!!!!!! 😳 😳 😳

It was also requested that he lie on his front and the radiography team had no issue with this at all. So he's had his 2nd scan since his diagnosis FINALLY πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€— and he's over the moon, results come in 2 weeks.

Peace out πŸ™

You’re wonderful to have been so assertive to get this arranged for him. What a jewel you are! I’m thrilled that was able to do the MRI!

What a great idea to lie on guess stomach for an MRI. Best if luck for his follow up!

this seems a solution so far, but had you tried putting him out with valium. I can not stay still in an MRI after all these years and I just take a few valium tablets and sleep through it. Of course there is somebody with me there and the way home

It makes no difference what pills he takes I'm afraid, he can't under any circumstances lie on his back. But it works on his front, he's comfortable, they are happy to scan him that way so happy days xxx

I guess it takes all types, so you do what you have to do.

If that works that's good

I'm so happy for you both!!! So laying face first worked better for his vertigo? Is it like that all the time?

Let us know how the results go!πŸ€—πŸ’•πŸŒ

It is yes, he sleeps this way now, has done for years. It's managed very well. It doesn't interfere with his day to day life at all.

He just has to ask someone else to fix his car now because he can't lie down to do it πŸ˜‚ but besides that he is completely normal lol xxx

Glad to hear he got the MRI. Hopefully the results are positive.

Wonderful! I never thought of lying on my stomach instead of back!

It confuses me how the doctors know this has been a major problem for so long but none of us thought of this sooner xx

When you posted that he couldn't lie down, I assumed, perhaps like the doctors, that he had to sleep sitting up. It never occurred to me to ask how he slept. If I had asked, I would have understood his situation better. In my defense, I am not trained as a diagnostician although doctors and NPs presumably are!

Yes they new it was positional vertigo and that he could lie any other way just not on his back.

We stupidly just assumed you had to lie on your back for a scan, but still how did I not think to ask this before πŸ™„ well very glad I did now x
