Life will always be an adventure and you'll never get old. Remember,

The supernatural is within us all, naturally.

The best part of having MS & not working is that I can spend my days on the beautiful Cowlitz River, one block from my place.

I love to take photos and this Great Blue Heron, a huge, beautiful bird, normally quite shy and skittish, just hung out with me, let me shoot him, and even listened to my stories as I watched the fiery sunset and he fished in the shallows.

I'll remember that bird and that sunset for the rest of my life. I couldn't buy an evening like that for any price.

The cost? Merely taking the time to slow down, look around, and fully enjoy being a part of this incredible world.

That, to me, is what life is all about.

That is awesome. I sit outside on my porch with all my fur babies - 2 dogs and more cats than i can count. They provide those moments for me. Its like a small miracle some times 😁💜💜

I was owned by The World Famous #alexdboxer for 13 1/2 wonderful slobbery years (Google him, you'll find pics, I take so many pics he actually learned the command "get out of the frame Alex")

Beautiful picture and lovely thoughts. Thank you for posting.

I love your photo. I lived on a cove once and a heron hung out there. They are so beautiful, mysterious, inscrutable. So still for so long, moving slowly if at all, then whammo - got a fish. I love their stillness and quietness. It's very grounding. Thanks for sharing.

There is something magical and ancient about herons. One cool foggy morning, the clouds just at tree top level, I was on my way to the barn, listening to the silence. I heard the moisture condensing on leaves, sliding down and pattering the ground below, and then the sound of slow wings, brushing air aside, looked up and watched as a great blue heron emerged in the mist, drifted above me as if guided by an invisible puppeteer, feet tucked up, head pulled in, great wings slowing stroking...first one, followed shortly by another then both drifting away into the silent morning. I felt as if the universe had selected me for this vision, a very humbling award.

I know. spending as much time as I do at the ri ver I am often privilaged to witness what most never have. I've woken up in the middle of a flock of wild geese, been stalked by sea lions and beavers. If you don't think they do that, try swimming past a den in early summer.

I am aware of how aggressive beavers can be. Neighbors have a pond which they used to swim in...until a beaver decided to take up residence and began to threaten them.

Last summer I was floating down a section of the river on my back where I know there are several active beaver dens. I looked over and shadowing me, drifting in the current not 8 feet from me were two BABs (Big Ass Beavers). One facing me, the other facing away.

I landed and got out of the water. I know beavers don't normally bother people, but with young in the dens, and the fact that nearly everyone is carrying a hi-def, wifi-enabled video recorder, I didn't want to become known as:

That YouTube Beaver Bitchslap Boy

It's all around us always. Matter of fact, it's within us. I can find that peace on a mountaintop at midday or a city streetcorner at midnight.

The supernatural is within us all, naturally
