Hi everyone! I just received information from someone that is dealing with a lot of leg issues and is wondering if Botox might help with her spasticity. I figured I would go here and ask everyone so I can let her know. I greatly appreciate everyone's help.

Following this post because I also have leg issues. I take a magnesium supplement, but still have problems with legs feeling like they are sunburned and spasms too!!

I have both too. The burn is nerve pain and they told me to take extra neurontin or gabenpatin. I wish I never started the use of opiates even though they did work. But you reach a level and must stop. I did go down from 100 mcg to 75 mcg. I almost got down to 62 mcg but the side effects I was experiencing was not good especially while trying to do PT for my spasms. Stretching is good for spasms, and take some Advil before & after exercising. Magnesium is great for constipation but I did not see a benefit for spasms.

I tried Botox injections in my paraspinal muscles and legs quads for spasticity. With the back paraspinal muscles I had to stop due to a weaken back, but it worked for 7-8 years with the draw back that this area is very sensitive and injections were painful. So I stopped and strengthened my back. I tried it in my legs but after a year or 2, legs weakened. You need a good psychiatrist who will listen to you when you state you feel weakening of muscles. You have to stay active. I stopped my Botox injections to realize my biggest problem with one leg is osteoarthritis. The other leg doesn’t get as many spasms after I stopped and strengthened legs. Be careful for the reason one has spasticity, to make sure there is an underlying condition. The Botox injections will mask those symptoms or weakened you. But I did have significant relief. I would not discourage someone to use it for a short period of time for relief. But it is not a long term solution. And the dosage has to be modify. Best to be conservative with dosage. Legs are tricky because some doctors want to give an injection in calf which weakens legs and feet. Best for large muscle or extremely small doses in other areas. It does wear off.

My neurologist advised against using a for my leg spasms. I take Baclofen instead. It helps greatly although it doesn’t last too long so additional dosing is necessary.

Kitsey I take gabapentin and baclofen at rotating times during the day. It helps, but if I sit with legs hanging down like at a restaurant, feet go numb, tingles start up the legs until I stand up for a few minutes.

Never tried it for MS, but did try it--twice--for migraine and it got worse. Don't know that I would equate the two, though.
