Ocrevus +9 months: time for the next round

The monthly blood test shows that my immune system has somewhat recovered (T-cell climbing up, almost in normal range; B-cells very low but starting to climb back). The neuro suggested that we plan the next round of Ocrevus. So here we go!

It's going to be a busy month. I will have to go through the whole insurance approval process again. The infusion is the least of my concerns as I had no reaction to it. Maybe if they give me the full dose, it will be different. I'm almost excited about getting the infusion because then I'll know I'm properly protected from the ms attack.

I also have an appt with the neuro at the end of the month.

The next stop after that will be June with an MRI and full blood test as part of a research project.

I hope the insurance process is smooth and you do well again with the infusion. Let us know how it goes.

anaishunter You do not receive Ocrevus, full dose, every 6 months? Your neuro monitors your B-Cells to determine when you should have your next infusion? That sounds like the route to go. Ocrevus is doing its intended job with me, and my neuro does monitor my B-Cells. A full dose of Ocrevus every 6 months is the standard but it sounds like, in your case, treatment can be tailored for every individual. I will pose that to my neuro at my next appointment. Interesting, and all the best for your next infusion. Keep us posted on your experiences please. :-D

I did the 1st round (the 2 half doses) in June last year. When it was time to get ready for the next one (5 months later), the neuro asked to do a blood test. While the B cells were still at 0 (= I was still protected), the T-cells were very low (sometimes Ocrevus also kills some of the T-cells), leaving me exposed to easy infection. We did blood tests every month since then and now it looks like I'm ready for the next infusion.

It makes a lot of sense to me that we would all react slightly differently to the same dosage. I'm on the petite side.
