Do I or don’t I get a flu shot?

Some say it’s a good thing.

Some say it’s a bad thing for people with ms.

What do you guys think?

Thank you for your opinion!!

I hope all replies are good ones as I'm getting my today. My Neurologist said it was fine for me.

I have been getting them for twenty five years and never had any problems 👍. My wife and son also get them so they don’t give it to me. I have had a few colds but have not had the flu since I started doing the shots 🙏🙏🐾 Ken 🎃😊

I don’t know. Some MS medication recommend you don’t.

Hello Momjules,

My neuro has always recommended that I get my flu shot because it’s better than getting the flu 😷

Discuss with your medical team about getting a flu shot.

Momjules , I always get a flu shot. Sometimes I react to the shot with a sore arm lasting a couple of weeks and sometimes I feel feverish and ache all over for a day or so as well but it's a lot better than having the flu. If you take one of the MS drugs, you should ask your doctor though because there were some cautions about the flu vaccine if it's a live virus.

I never used to get a flu shot until after the flu sent me into a really bad relapse and unable to work anymore. I highly recommend getting the flu shot.

Thank you to all that responded to my question.

I really think putting a live virus in ones body that has ms and heart disease and diabetes may be asking for trouble.

Then again, maybe not doing it is trouble.

Have a great day!’

The flu shot is not a live virus, therefore is ok. To be certain, call your Neurologist’s office. I’ve had breast cancer and have MS- both drs recommend the flu shot for me. You are wise to be cautious though👍🏼

I get the shot every year, early because my doc and pharmacist have me get the one they call the “quad” shot. It covers four strains of flu, but is only available early on. Then they run out. Anyway, I usually do great, but last winter I got this wicked flu that was going around Utah really bad. I was in bed for five weeks! Never again I pray! Kelly

The flu shot is not a live virus so my neuro and PC both said to get the shot.

They both told me I should also get the shingle vaccine which is not a live virus either.

I got my flu shot but haven't gotten the shingles vaccine yet.
